Theme: Resilience and Recovery – Museums in a Changing Climate 

Our 2026 theme is a direct response to the growing challenges museums face in a changing climate, both in environmental and political terms. As climate-related events increasingly threaten collections, infrastructure, and community access, we are exploring how museums can adapt, respond, and prepare for future challenges. 

Location: New Mexico State University Campus and Historic Downtown Las Cruces

Conference // November 12 & 13, 2026

Additional museum tours // Saturday, November 14, 2026

Pricing

Member

  • Earlybird fee on or before October 1st: $90 for the full conference
  • Registration after October 1st: $125
  • One day registration: $65

Non Member

  • Full conference: $165

Cancellation and Refund Policy

The New Mexico Association of Museums is a small nonprofit organization that relies on membership and event fees to cover our Conference and operating costs. Cancellations must be received in writing. 

  • Cancellations made on or before October 15, 2026 will be refunded. 
  • Cancellations made from October 16 to November 1, 2026 will be refunded minus a $35 cancellation fee.  
  • Cancellations made after November 1, 2026 and no-shows will not be refunded.

Scholarships

NMAM is pleased to offer Annual Conference scholarships to its members. Scholarship funds are raised through the NMAM Annual Conference auctions, as well through donations to both the Art Wolf and General Scholarship Fund. Thank you to everyone who has ever donated or purchased one of our auction items!

What does the scholarship cover?

  • All registration fees, including Thursday and Friday lunch, and the Thursday evening social.
  • Travel and lodging expenses are not covered.

Who is eligible?

  • Anyone with an Individual Membership or listed on their organization's institutional membership.
  • Preference will be given to those who demonstrate financial need, are first-time NMAM Annual Conference attendees, or are new to the museum profession.
  • Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply.
  • NMAM board members are not eligible to apply.

What happens if I am awarded a scholarship?

  • Recipients are expected to attend the entire conference. 
  • Recipients may be asked to assist with registration, the silent auction, or capturing photos and posting to social media.
  • Recipients will be introduced during the lunch Thursday afternoon.

How do I apply?

  • Application deadline: September 15 at midnight. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

    • What are your reasons for attending the annual conference? How do they fit into your personal and professional goals?
    • What is your experience with museums? Are there any special museum projects you have worked on or are currently involved in?
